Macaron is a modern card game that has clear roots in traditional trick-taking card games. This card game, which is live on Kickstarter right now, features some really interesting new trick-taking mechanics. The most interesting thing to me is that you vote for which suit(s) become trump and there's a punitive suit every round that makes tricks containing that suit worthless.
Macaron was designed by Ta-Te Wu and features art by Holly Chiu and Rachel Kim. It’s going to be published by Sunrise Tornado Game Studio. This card game is for one to five players with each game taking about half an hour.

From the Publisher:
To celebrate King Louis’ birthday, royal pâtissiers are busy preparing Macaron gift boxes for the royal family and guests. At the end of the celebration, the pâtissier who has made the most boxes wins and becomes the most prestigious pâtissier in France. But beware, underneath the cheerful pâtissiers and colorful Macarons, an allergen might slip into your box and ruin the pastry. Are you ready to make some Macarons?
Macaron is a 1 to 5 player trick-taking game. In the game, players are French pâtissiers preparing Macaron gift boxes for the royal family and guests. In every game, a number of rounds will be played, and each round ends when 13 tricks are played or a player has prepared 8 or more boxes. Players will receive victory points at the end of the round based on the number of boxes prepared. When a player has received 10 or more victory points at the end of a round, the game ends.
Beware of the flavor with an allergen (pistachio). Winning any trick with an allergen will not give you a box because the gift box is ruined! Thou, you get to lead the next trick.
