10/16/12: A 43-year-old former Warren woman was sentenced last month to 16 months in prison for fondling a 5-year-old boy after she failed to show up four months earlier.
Michelle Lee Lester received a term at nearly the top of the guideline range of zero to 17 months, and a maximum term of up to 15 years, after pleading guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct, a sexual contact offense punishable by up to 15 years in prison. She received credit for eight months already served in the Macomb County Jail.
Lester in May did not show up for her sentencing by Judge David Viviano of Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. She was supposed to be residing with her grandmother in Warren, under bond restrictions. But officials determined she left the home shortly after her April plea and was living in a mobile home in Jackson.
Viviano issued a bench warrant. Probation officials attempted mail contact in July, but correspondence was returned as "undeliverable," court records say.
Lester was picked up by police in early September, according to an official involved in the case.
She was sentenced Sept. 25. Viviano dismissed the contempt of court charge related to her May 15 no-show.
Lester admitted to molesting the son of a Warren woman who had allowed her to move in last year because she was homeless. The woman in September 2011 left Lester to babysit her son for an afternoon at the woman's home near Eight Mile and Hoover roads. Lester soon after admitted sexually contacting the boy to a third woman. http://www.macombdaily.com/article/20121016/NEWS01/121019697/warren-woman-gets-16-months-for-fondling-boy
